CRC Virtual 5K Race Report
(Strava’s April 5K Challenge)
Location: Planet Earth
Throughout the month of April, 21 CRCers took to the streets of their choice to run our first socially distant, virtual race. Many noted the added challenge of racing solo but that didn’t stop 4 CRCers from landing their personal bests. Brendan, Charles, Austin, and Andrew all impressively ran their fastest 5Ks ever–congrats guys! While many of us were feeling the impact of not having track the past several weeks, Joann managed to run an impressive 22:20 after 8 months of no speedwork due to injury. Adam Meltzer also stepped up and took part in the virtual 5k during his road to recovery–his first race in over 1.5 years! Also worth noting is Mark Tebbe who ran a strong time of 19:12 while wearing a face covering the entire time.
While most of the CRCers who took part ran in the Greater Boston Area (and mainly along the Charles River), we had a fellow CRCer, Scott Tan, race in his home country of Singapore! Great to see CRCers participate even when they’re on the other side of the planet. We also had Heather who ran the 3.1 mile race as part of her 31st birthday celebration. Happy birthday, Heather!
While there were no cheering crowds, medals, or post-race social events, congratulations to the 21 CRCers who stepped up to the challenge anyway. Keep up the work! Full results can be found below. Also, be on the lookout for an e-mail for the next race for the month of May!
On behalf of the CRC Race Committee,
