2019 Bridge of Flowers 8K Race Report
Shelburne Falls, MA
Weather: 74F and partly cloudy
On August 10th, 14 CRCers made the trek up to Shelburne Falls for “one of the toughest 8Ks in New England.” And boy, the race directors weren’t kidding – one look at the course profile (or everyone’s mile 3 split on Strava – see photo below) will make you understand why this race was so tough! Despite the tough course, CRC rose to the challenge! Our USATF women’s team placed 5th overall and our men’s team placed 9th. Wesley Mather finished first for CRC men and Meghan Weaver finished top for our women! (Shout out to CRC ladies for outnumbering our men!)
Highlights from the race included racing against Louis Serafini (an Olympic trials qualified runner), ice pops post race, good crowd of spectators and a beautiful Bridge of Flowers adjacent to the course. Several CRCers made a pit stop at Tree House Brewing Company on the way home from the race to celebrate! Thanks again to everyone who participated.
“That hill was no joke.” -Wes Mather
