2018 CRC Race Series #3
March 31, 2018
Sunny and breezy, temperature in the low 50s
Looking to start the holiday weekend off right, CRC ventured into the wilds of Upton, MA for the Frank Nealon 15K, a USATF-NE Grand Prix event that temporarily raised the town’s population by ~10%. CRC arrived bright and early to watch throngs of runners from across New England arrive in their matching track suits. The excitement in the gym was palpable.
The race itself did not disappoint: the weather was perfect, the food was great, and the field left us wondering “why was everyone else so damn fast?” Must have been the track suits. Still, the men’s team battled the rolling hills of exurban Massachusetts to secure a 10th place finish. Karyn Benson and Jackie Cygelman did a great job representing the CRC women at the event, and they were assisted remotely by Tara Dorsey and Nancy Varney, whose likenesses were found on the cover of New England Runner’s 2018 Road Race Calendar.
Next on the CRC race calendar is the Joe English Challenge on May 6, and our next USATF event is the New Hampshire 10 Miler on August 25.
