New Bedford Race Report
2018 CRC Race Series #2
March 18, 2018
Sunny and 25 degrees

Last Sunday, CRC travelled to the Whaling City to compete in the first USATF-NE race of the season. The cold weather and mile-12 hill were no match for the thirty-six CRCers that crossed the finish line. The men placed 9th out of 27 teams, lead by solid efforts from Kyle Coffee (2 minute PR), Matthew Pennock, Daniel Dillon, Wesley Mather (PR), Jason Varney (PR), Theron Carmichael (debut half), and Ian Barber (8 minute PR). The women also placed in the top third — 12th out of 38 teams — behind scoring runs by Riina Turtio (7 minute PR), Kimberly Hassett (11 minute PR), Meghan Weaver, Anna LeMahieu, and Karyn Benson. Other notable performances included: PRs by Gido Gravesteijn (12 minute PR), Caitlin Pohl (8 minute PR), Tom Salvon (5 minute PR), Marco Gysel (3 minute PR), and Ben Zavadoski; half-marathon debuts by David Sachs, Will Foulsham and Brendan Peltier; and a sweep in the aqua jogging competition by Steph Habura and Lauren Krouskoff. CRC celebrated their performances with clam chowder in the YMCA gymnasium and beers at Slainte Irish Pub organized by Alex Solimano and Tom Salvon.

Next up in USATF-NE action is the Frank Nealon Boston Tune-up 15k, which takes place next Saturday in Upton, MA.
