RACE Cancer Summer Series 5K Race Report
CRC Race Series
July 13, 2017
Cloudy with scattered showers, temperature in the low 60s
Braving some unseasonably cool weather, CRC had a remarkably strong showing at the sole July entry in the 2017 CRC Race Series. Here are some highlights:
- 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the Women’s 5K
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and 7th in the Open 5K
- Fastest team overall
Some notables include Alex Solimano’s CRC PR (24:06), Kim Hassett’s 1st overall finish in the women’s 5K (19:50), and Brendan Meehan’s 1st overall finish in the open 5K (16:06). Unfortunately, running that fast must have taken a lot out of Brendan, as he didn’t stay late enough at the after-party to collect the 4-pack of beer that he won for his efforts. Sources say that fellow CRCers quickly polished off the beer in Brendan’s honor. Here are the full results for the women’s and open races.
Apparently our blazing times weren’t the only things that caught the attention of the admiring crowds. Not only were volunteers and spectators impressed with the CRC turnout (and performances), but the race director also noted that we looked “sharp” in our new apparel, #nbd. Photographic evidence can be found on the CRC Facebook page.
Great job everyone!

P.S. There are three more races left in the Summer Series: 8/10, 9/7, and 9/21! Plenty of runners have already registered via season pass, and it would be great to have additional runners help them rep CRC.
