Joe English Trail Challenge Race Report 2017

Joe English Trail Challenge Race Report
Amherst, NH
CRC Race Series
May 8, 2017
Sunny and 50 degrees

CRC ventured across state lines to race in the 4th annual Joe English Trail Challenge (Joe English). Four distances were available, 5K, 12.5K, 25K and 30K. Weather conditions were perfect for a fun day on a challenging course. Trails conditions, on the other hand, were an adventure from the get go. Rain over the previous few days made for muddy trails and fun stream crossings. Yours truly, found himself knee deep in the first stream after slipping off the rocks trying to cross.

12.5K
Wes Mather lost a shoe when it got stuck in the mud. Despite the loss of his shoe and running barefoot at the end he won the 12.5K race by 30 seconds. Brendan Meehan came in third, 6 minutes behind Wes. John Hadcock got 2AG in the 50-59 group. Caitlin Pohl ran an extra 2-3 miles when she went off course. Despite the extra mileage she came across the finish in good spirits and 2AG in the 20-29 group!

25K
Matt Turnbull turned on the jets and won by 10 minutes! Dave Sandham came in 7th overall and 3AG in the 40-49 group.

Participants
John Hadcock, Dave Sandham, Matt Turnbull, Brendan Meehan, Caitlin Pohl, Wes Mather.
