New Bedford Half Marathon Race Report
2017 CRC Race Series #3
March 19, 2017
Cloudy, 39 degrees
CRC had a fantastic showing at the New Bedford Half on March 19, 2017. The race has been a CRC tradition, and this year 35 runners participated. The course runs through the historic downtown and waterfront of New Bedford, MA. This year, 2293 racers took to the cobblestone streets of the Whaling Capital of the World for the second race in the 2017 NE Grand Prix series.
Even for a famously windy course, the weather for Sunday was notable – we heard on the course that the 20 mph headwinds and 40 mph gusts were the worst conditions in the race’s 40-year history. The unpredictable March weather made CRC’s performance even more impressive – we had several PR’s, and Charlie Muse placed second in his age group. Congratulations to all on an amazing race!
After the race, we celebrated downtown at Slainte with beer and post-race appetizers, and closed out St. Patrick’s Day weekend appropriately with live music and Irish step dancing.
Below are CRC’s results, as well as the link to the full race results. The next race in the CRC Race Series is the Frank Nealon Boston Tune-Up 15k in Upton on April 1st. Looking forward to seeing you there!
