Despite angry winds and some formidable hills, CRC turned out some fantastic performances yesterday at the New Bedford Half Marathon – the second in the USATF Grand Prix series.
21 of us made the 1hr+ trip down to the whaling capital of Massachusetts. The field was fast and furious with 34 women’s and 26 men’s USATF club teams represented. The CRC women finished 9th and then men 13th in the open team categories with a total field of 2400 runners.
We saw at least 7 new PRs from CRC (Charlie, Sean M, Jason, Nancy, Cristian, Tyler and Brittany) as well as a number of 2nd– best-evers. Well done folks.
Some sights seen on the course: a man taking jello shot off of ground, a parade of party pants (see example below), and a creepy photographer getting too close to try to get footage of my hand cast.
After stuffing ourselves with fish sandwiches and clam chowder, CRC showed further endurance by hitting the town for a celebratory beverage. We bounced off of several overcrowded bars, but the quest for the post-race-beer would not be denied. Appropriately, on St. Patty’s weekend, we finally clinked glasses at Sláinte (Gaelic for cheers).
