Cohasset By The Sea 10K Cohasset, MA April 6, 2008 Three CRCers tackled the beautiful but challenging Cohasset by the Sea 10k. Weather was overcast and cool with a stiff ocean breeze during the first half of the race. Chad Carr took third place overall for the second year in a row. David Loutzenheiser ran a double. Unsure of whether to run the Cambridge City Run 5 miler in the morning or the Cohasset 10k in the afternoon, he decided to do both (see his City Run results here). Justin Verdirame ran just fast enough for CRC to take home FIRST place in the team category. Apres-race fare included the traditional post-race hot dogs along with water, bagels, bananas, and oranges. Once again this race provided some of the best prizes to the winners. However, this year the best prizes did not go to the overall winners (see last year's results including Hank and Chad's winnings for comparison). Despite the same finish as the previous year, Chad walked away with an ugly sweatshirt and gift certificates for Dunkin Donuts and Papa Gino's which paled in comparison to the bicycle won previously. The highly coveted remote control sailboat was offered to second place in the 13 and under boys division. He declined to take the boat in favor of a pair of shoes. There was also a 14-17 division with just 6 entrants. The 18-39 mens division had 264 entrants for which no actual prizes were awarded this year. The car roof rack remained unclaimed at the completion of the awards ceremony. Speculation over the unawarded awards include the possibilities that the race director will be rewarding himself for putting on such a great race or that these awards will be given away at the 2009 edition of the race.
