Exeter Marathon Exeter, RI April 17, 2010 Marathon weekend festivities for CRC kicked off early on Saturday morning as Becky Hutchinson opted for the quiet streets of Exeter, Rhode Island as the destination of her next marathon challenge. Instead of lining up with 25,000+ of her closest friends at Hopkinton on Patriots Day, she took the start line in Exeter with 53 other runners, who ironically also had to meet qualifying times to take part in the event: http://www.exetermarathon.com/exeter_marathon_qualifying_standards.html What would have appeared to be quiet stroll through the streets of Exeter was offset by a caravan of 11 CRC members who went back and forth on various points of the out and back course cheering the CRC veteran on during the 26.2 mile race. The raucous CRC crew offered pretty much the entire crowd support for the race -- even to the discouragement of some locals who weren't alerted that a race would be running by their front door in the morning. As for the race, Becky seemed quite at home, running a few miles down the road from her alma mater, Brown University. A cool morning, with a bit of drizzle at times, the race conditions were pretty good. Battling through a series of rolling hills, she set a new PR at 3:01:40 and enough prize winnings for a 3rd place finish to cover her saturday night cab ride from Boston to Cambridge. Congrats Becky!
