Hyannis Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K

After 5 straight days of wind and rain, 20 CRCers braved the elements and headed out to the Cape for the 30th Hyannis Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K. The day proved to be great racing weather: high 30's and overcast, but no wind, a welcome surprise on a course that hugs the coastline.
CRC women dominated both the 10K and half marathon races. Michelle McCreary came across the line first in the 10K, an impressive feat for a first year med student. Meghan Weaver was right behind her, finishing 2nd woman overall and 1st in the 19-29 age group. Rachel Kalinsky also posted a solid time in the 10K. Kaitlin Anelauskas and Liz Dalton finished in the top 10 of the half marathon, finishing 2nd and 7th overall, and teamed with Jessica Miller to earn 1st place in the women's team standings! The CRC womens team also included Gina Lafkas, Diana Whitney, Emily McCloskey, Tara Connelly, Lisa Curtin, Sara Lund and Kimberly Giedd. Eileen Harrington also ran in the half marathon, but had to bow out early due to hamstring troubles. Colleen Harrison anchored the Harvard Law School relay, earning 2nd place in the marathon relay.
The men also had a great showing in the half marathon and marathon. Chad Carr won the half marathon by over a minute, passing the 2nd place finisher at mile 10 and never looking back. Combined with great performances by Johnny Sadoff and Bayen Miller, CRC finished 6th place in the men's team standings. Mo Gomez raced hard and finished with a PR. Geoff Philbrick also turned in a great race in the half. Marty Shaw was the lone CRC marathoner, but turned in a solid performance in his training towards an ultra marathon this spring.

After the race, everyone warmed up inside the conference center with Dunkin Donuts and hot soup. Some may even have ventured to Paulie's Beer and Wings party on the second floor...
