Boston Prep 16 Miler
Derry, NH
January 24, 2010
On Sunday, January 24th a group of 5 intrepid CRC members and their support staff of one trekked up to Derry, New Hampshire for the "moderately challenging" Boston Prep 16 miler. The weather was atypically moderate by this race's standards which left only the unrelenting hills of the wilds of the Derry countryside to overcome...well, that and 16 miles.
The group met up in the village school gymnasium/cafeteria for some pre-race camaraderie and a team picture (see below). Overall race participant hydration plans were highly effective, evidenced by a ten minute delay to the race start due to long lines at the Port-o-johns. I wish I was making that up.
Team CRC eventually made our way to the start to see the pack take off before we got to the starting line (oops!). We weaved our way to our respective area of the race pack and settled in for a scenic and hilly 16 mile jaunt. Along the way we were quite often greeted by our very own CRC 16 miler cheerleader of one - Anne London. Thanks Anne!
Congrats to all who participated!
Out of a field of 707 participants this is how the team fared:
Hugh Hallawell 112th (2:00:17)
Brian London 149th (2:03:27)
Scott Gerwin 257th (2:11:23)
Alett Mekler 542th (2:35:19)
Michael Tsung 604th (2:42:38)
