Seacoast Half Marathon
Portsmouth, NH
November 8, 2009
This is a half marathon CRC runners should consider for the future. The course is New England flat (gently rolling for the most part), has great views of the New Hampshire coast and starts and ends in one of the nicest New England coastal towns. You can drive up from Boston in 1h15 minutes the morning of the race. The weather was excellent (probably warmer than usual) and the size of the field optimal (around 1000) runners. We (David L. and Fabio) put in a performance just respectable enough to justify a great Sunday brunch at the Wentworth-by-the Sea (one of the old New England grand hotels, recently restored). If you want to treat somebody you care about to a luxurious/romantic weekend, you may want to stay there the night before the race and explore the restaurants in downtown Portsmouth (very pretty). Here are some useful links to the hotel, brunch, and to a restaurant we liked.
