It was a beautiful and unseasonably warm fall day for the 2009 New England Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park. This event brings together some of the region's most competitive club runners. And this was the first time -- at least in recent history -- that the CRC fielded a full team to compete. We had a women's team of 7 women, a men's open team of 6 guys, and a solo Hank Scollard in the masters race. Everyone put in strong performances, but most impressive was the team spirit among the club. In addition to the runners, several CRCers showed up to cheer for the team. Thanks to Brent Sugimoto, Erin Richman, Ting Chen, Matt Graziano, Bernat Olle, Katie O'Connor and Jay Salony for their enthusiastic support at various spots along the course. It was a truly impressive showing for our club.

And the teams performed well. The women finished 5th out of 9 teams and the men finished 7th out of 9 teams. But what got the crowds at Franklin Park the most excited was the long awaited return to racing of the legendary Scott Cody. And he did not disappoint, smiling to his adoring fans as he cruised along the course.
