41st Battle Of Bunker Hill Road Race (8km)
Charlestown, MA

This long-running race took place under much more tranquil conditions than forecast. The steady overnight rain subsided on the stroke of 9:30am, just as the race began. CRC was well represented in both the mens and womens races. Highlights included Amanda winning the women's race and Carine finishing 3rd in her age group (Carine's excellent result might have been partly inspired by France beating the All Blacks on Saturday :-)).

Justin turned in another excellent performance in being first CRC'er home while David Loutzenheiser confessed to "leaving a little in the tank" for the trail race he was running in Lincoln at 2pm (I suspect that as I write this report (7:30pm Sunday) that David is just getting underway in his third race of the day wherever that might be). John Sadoff and Patrick and Marcia Gookin werre happy with their performance while Bill Hees confessed to running both his fastest and slowest 8km race (the challenge is to guess how many previous 8km races Bill has run).

Following the race we enjoyed brunch at Tavern on the Water, an event excellently organized by Carine. Oh boy, some interesting and off-record discussions took place! These were aided by the fact that patrons had the liberty of making their own Bloody Mary's. Bill left his drink in the hands of the Tavern while Peter saved $1 by creating his own concoction (we never did figure out exactly what he put in it and its quite possible that Peter might never be the same again).
