10 Annual Millennium Mile Londonderry, NH 12/28/08 Earlier this month, the call went out to all CRC members to take on the challenge of the Millennium Mile. Well, on Sunday 12/28/08 at 2pm three CRC members lined up on the starting line of this fun and fast mile. Justin Verdirame, Jenn Campbell and Mike McKechnie all ran the race last year in 2007 with great success, so they decided to run it again this year. This year the three of us traveled to Londonderry NH without the supporting cast we had last year. The temps were amazing and there were strong winds, but this didn’t seem to impact times that much. CRC covered the starting line with Jenn lining up on the far right, I was in the middle and Justin on the far left. The gun went off and Justin went out like a rocket. I could see him off to my left and noticed he went through the first ¼ mile in the top 15 runners. All I could see was the world famous RUN CRC off in the distance. Jenn quietly ran up next to me and continued to pass me between the ¼ and ½ mile markers. She quickly disappeared from my sight. The three of us pushed down the hill before hitting a slight uphill to the finish. It was a fast race, which really worked out our lung capacity. Justin was the only one out of the three of us who beat his time last year by 3 seconds. He showed he still has speed since entering a new age division. Jenn, placed second in her age group, but was off her time from last year and was happy to see she survived the race. I fell short of my time from last year by one second, but was still happy that my fitness level hasn’t diminished much from last year. Overall, this was a fun race and there is already talk of the three of us returning next year for another shot at this race. We hope more CRC members will join us.
