Baystate Marathon and Half Marathon

Sunday certainly felt like a typical fall race day in New England -- temps in low 40s and some windy conditions, but for the most part a decent day for some long distance racing at the Baystate Marathon and Half in Lowell.

A HUGE congrats to Justin, Jon and Charley who all turned in Boston qualifying times. Justin recorded a 10-minute PR and not to mention has rightfully earned the title of "Iron Runner" in that he completed all 7 USATFNE Grand Prix Races in 2008. A tremendous accomplishment - congrats Justin!

In the half marathon, Pradeep, likely riding high from LSU's victory Saturday night, picked up a sizeable PR in gearing up the Philadelphia Marathon. And Ting -- not all of us can work until the early hours in the night, go home for four hours of sleep and then come back to race a half marathon.

A much needed thank you to Jay, Meredith and Scott who were out on the course lending support. Scott braved the windy conditions and ran with your scribe here for 3 minutes of mile 10, which was a much needed pick me up.

I should note one other item-- the winning time of yesterday's half marathon was 1:09:24, short of the course record of 1:06:46, held by our very own Scott Cody. Scott, I'm guessing you slept OK last night knowing that record stands for another year...
